At Horwath HTL, we specialise in three key areas; Policy and Development, Project Planning and Management and Destination Marketing.

Public policy and framework play a fundamental part in the development and success of tourism initiatives and form the backbone of our expertise. We work together with local offices and governmental bodies to fully develop a strategy based on technical skill and international best practices to create viable long term schemes that will create value and sustainability. At this stage of the development, we offer a range of services to scope out public policy, examine the long term development and the likely economic impact they will have, develop master plans, specific concepts, feasibility studies, strategic, operational and marketing plans.

We work with local or national tourist organisations, countries, regions or communities,providing a thorough diagnosis of the territory in question, and a proposal for developing a tourism and leisure strategy with a five to ten year action plan.

If required, we can also create a master plan for strategic sites and carry out an audit of existing tourist operations.     Auckland Council theatre review

    Scope of Work: To undertake a study into the needs of a market demand for professional performing arts venues in Auckland City and to develop a strategic action plan.

    Project Overview: Horwath HTL was engaged to prepare a Performing Arts Venue Study.

    Horwath HTL Solution: After undertaking extensive consultation with over 60 industry stakeholders, critically assessing the strengths and weaknesses of Auckland City’s existing venues, our recommendation was to develop three additional performing arts venues of varying sizes, over a 10 year period.

    Rugby Visitor Attraction

    Scope of Work: To review the preliminary business case for a rugby-focussed visitor attraction.

    Project Overview: We assisted New Zealand Rugby by providing an independent review of the reasonableness of the client’s operating and financial projections for a rugby visitor attraction.

    Horwath HTL Solution: Horwath HTL agreed with the preliminary concept and advised the client that the business case appeared to have strong potential to succeed in a competitive market in Auckland.

    Rugby World Cup

    Scope of Work: Horwath HTL was commissioned to prepare a high level pre-event economic impact estimate to demonstrate the potential incremental expenditure in the Auckland Region and New Zealand which would be attributable to hosting the Rugby World Cup 2011 (RWC).

    Project Overview: Horwath HTL developed estimates of activity levels (numbers of visitors, average length of stay, average daily spend) for team members, international and domestic supporters, and associated media in the Auckland Region.
