Auckland Council Theatre Review – Auckland, New Zealand

Project Overview: To undertake a study into the needs of and market demand for professional performing arts venues in Auckland City and to develop a strategic action plan to guide and prioritise investment into the required venues in Auckland City over a 15 year period.

Scope of Work: Horwath HTL was engaged to prepare a Performing Arts Venue Study.

Horwath HTL Solution: After undertaking extensive consultation with over 60 industry stakeholders, critically assessing the strengths and weaknesses of Auckland City’s existing venues, comparing and contrasting the number and variety of venues in Auckland City relative to selected benchmark cities, assessing the industry’s venue and recommending a preferred development pathway based on a critical assessment of alternative scenarios, our recommendation was to develop three additional performing arts venues of varying sizes, over a 10 year period.

Project Status: Two new performing arts venues have been developed in Auckland, and the third is currently under development.
